1. How long do I need to get my wedding dress?
Although we carry a great selection of gowns that can be
bought ‘off the rail’ for that last minute purchase – ideally
you should order your gown at least 6 - 9 months before your
wedding. It can take anything up to 20 weeks to get your order
in stock. Invariably your dress will need some alterations,
so you need to leave time for this as well – a reputable dressmaker
will require at least 3 fittings.
We are used to dealing with brides that have travelled a long
way to see us and can accommodate
a ‘first’ fitting with our recommended seamstress when the gown
arrives.
2. What if I gain or lose weight before my wedding?
Since little can be done to make a smaller gown larger if
you put weight on it is best to play it safe and maintain your
normal eating and exercise habits throughout the fitting process.
If you lose weight you can always have your dress adjusted during
the fitting process but it is less stressful if you can keep
to your normal habits. Also, it is best not to try and lose
weight for a wedding, trust us, you will look fabulous when
we have finished with you!
3. What's the importance on the dress being ivory or white?
While white is considered the most traditional colour for
a wedding gown, ivory has long been accepted as an appropriate
choice for even very formal weddings. The most important element
with your dress is that its style matches the formality of your
wedding.
4. What's the best time to visit to avoid your busy time?
One way to avoid the crowds is to visit us during the week,
this way there won't be a wait to try on dresses. The best way
is to book a exclusive free 2 hour appointment where you can
have the boutique and our attention all to yourself. If you
are far away we have a special offer called the Big Beautiful
Break where you and a guest can stay overnight - to find out
more please visit the Big
Beautiful Break section
5. Is there any rule about who pays for the bride's gown?
Traditionally the bride's family assumes responsibility for
the cost. These days, a bride may pay for the gown herself,
she and her fiancé might share the cost, or she might
split the expense with her parents.
6. Do I need an appointment?

that has previously booked, we do give her absolute privacy
and the boutique is closed to impromptu visits at these times.

7. How do I know the right style for my size and body shape?
Finding the perfect plus size wedding gown style is easy
when you know what flatters you figure. Whether you're built
pear-shaped or petite, top-heavy or tall, wearing the right
cut for your body type can highlight your best features and
